Graduate medical schools in Kiev and Khar’kov.
From 1892 in Russia; during 1912 — 13 Balkan War in Serbian Army Red Cross units. 1914 military surgeon in Russian Army on Southwestern Front. From 1903 active in Russian Social-Democratic movement.
Repeatedly arrested by Tsarist authorities for revol activities. After 1917 February Revol elected to Petrograd Soviet of Workers and Soldiers’ Deputy. 1917 met Lenin in Petrograd and went to the front as Bolshevik agitator on his orders.
From 1918 fought in Civil War. Worked among for prisoners-of-war with his wife Zh. Lyaburb;May 1918 co-founder and head, first Yugoslav Communist Group in Russian Communist Party (Bolsheviks).
Chief ed of its press organization Helped found Communist International. From spring 1921 in Montenegro, where he helped lead peasant revolt.
April 1925, after year in prison in Cetinje, escaped to Austria. Summer 1926 returned to Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics. In 1930's worked for Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences in Moscow.
1938 arrested by State Security organs.
