1882 graduate Saint St. Petersburg Medical Surgical Academy.
After graduate retained at acad in Department of Pathological Anatomy under North.P. Ivanovskiy. 1885 defended doctor’s thesis, then military physician in Kiev where he continued studying pathological anatomy in V.V. Podvysotskiy’s laboratory. From 1890 lecturer. Military Medical Academy.
During foreign assignment worked with Mechnikov, Virchow and Baumgarten. 1894 appointed professor of general pathology and pathological anatomy, Dcrpet (Tartu) University. From 1918 professor of pathological anatomy, Voronezh University.
1930 retired on pension. 1934 appointed supernumerary professor, Voronezh Medical Institute. In later years worked in pathohistological laboratory, Voronezh Institute of Oncology'.
His efforts to correlate pathoanatomical findings with experimental research permeate all his most important works on histogenesis of experimental tubercles, septicemia, neoplasms (sarcomas of the lungs), endocrinous disorders, Addison’s disease and arteriosclerosis. Also did research on bacteriology. Keen advocate of Mechnikov’s phagocyte theory.
Numerous sci works written under his supervision, including 16 doctor’s thesis at Derpet.
