Vyacheslav Maksimovich was born on April 14, 1944 in the village of Pieski, Shchuchyn District, at that time Belarusian SSR.
After school, he planned to enter Mining and Processing College in the city of Krasnyi Luch in Ukraine, but Maksimovich wasn’t enrolled because he did not know the Ukrainian language, and failed Russian exam. He went to Rostov-on-Don and entered Construction college there. At that period, he began engaging in boxing and wrestling. Soon, he returned to Belarus and in 1964 – 1969, studied at Belarusian Institute of Physical Training. In 1991, he defended his thesis on “Perfection of training of qualified classical style wrestlers.” Soon, Maksimovich became Professor.
While studying at Rostov-on-Don, Maksimovich became engaged in boxing and wrestling. He worked as a sports instructor at a local Voluntary Sports Societies of the Soviet Union. At the age of 18, he became Champion of Russia in classical wrestling among young men and soon - member of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic team.
In 1970, he came to Grodno and stayed there. Maksimovich worked as a lecturer at Grodno Pedagogical Institute (today’s Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno). In 1990, he became Chair of the Department of physical education. He became one of the founders of the school of Greco-Roman wrestling.
During his time at the university, he trained five distinguished masters of sports, twenty six masters of sports of international class and more than one hundred masters of sports. His wrestlers won more than seventy medals of various dignity at the European championships, World championships, World Universiades, cups of Europe, world and the Soviet Union. Under his leadership, student athletes in Greco-Roman wrestling have repeatedly become champions and prize-winners of European and World championships.
Vyacheslav Maksimovich participated in training joined teams of the USSR and the BSSR and the Republic of Belarus to the most responsible championships. He was the coach of the national team of the country at the XXVII Olympic Games in Atlanta in 1996. His team took the 3rd team place, and wrestlers Valery Tsilents and Alexander Pavlov won Olympic awards. Maksimovich headed the national team of the Republic at the XXVIII Olympic Games in Sydney in 2004. The team performed successfully and won a bronze medal. At the XXVIII Olympic Games in Sydney, he headed the national team of the republic, which successfully performed, having won a bronze medal. Two wrestlers Oleg Mikhalovich and Sergei Artyukhin, trained by Vyacheslav Maksimovich, successfully performed at the 2008 Olympic Games in China, taking 5th and 11th places respectively.
Vyacheslav Maksimovich trains high-class athletes who defend the honor of the Republic at international competitions. He is the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Wrestling Federation, member of the Presidium of the Republican Wrestling Federation, member of the Executive Committee of the Belarusian Wrestling Association. He writes textbooks, is actively published in scientific journals. He lectures and holds seminars in Finland and Croatia, Israel and Poland, Italy and Spain, etc.

Maksimovich is the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Wrestling Federation, member of the Presidium of the Republican Wrestling Federation, member of the Executive Committee of the Belarusian Wrestling Association.
He married volleyball player Galina. They have a son Vitaly and a daughter Elena.
