Education
1907 passed examinations to qualify as a teacher. Entered Psychoneurological Institute.
Career
1905 joined Mensheviks. Exiled for two years to Olonetsk Province for revol activities. Began to write as a student.
After 1917 October Revol active in journalism, lit, as critic, publicist and historian. From 1919 leading member, Literature Publ Department, People's Commissariat of Education. Head, Literature Publ Department, Polit Board of Revol Military Council.
Member, Social of Marxist Historians. Editor or ed staff member, journals and publ “Krasnyy arkhiv,” “Istorik-marksist,” “Biosystems Engineering ” (Large Soviet Encyclopedia), et cetera 1921-1929 edited first Soviet criticism and bibliographical journal “Pechat’ i revolyutsiya”.
1925-1931 edited lit journal “Novyy mir”.
