Pastor of churches at Poplar, Stratford, and Wanstead Park. Visited America, 1895, and took part in Convention attended by 56,000 delegates. Became Honourable Secretary of the Christian Endeavour Union, 1893, at which time the Union embraced only 500 societies.
The societies now affiliated number 10,000.
Was organising secretary of the C. East. World’s Convention held at Alexandra Park, July 1900, one of the greatest religious gatherings ever held in England, daily attendance about 40,000. Frequent preacher and speaker at immense gatherings of young people in all parts of the land. Editor of The Christian Endeavour Times since 1893.
