Background
He was the son of Jozef Rejment and Antonina Kupczynski and the fifth child of seven, five girls and two boys. In 1874 he attended an Elementary School in Tuszyn. He didn't learn too much and changed a lot of schools, in the end went to Czgestochowa.
Wladyslaw Reymont run away from his parents in 1885 and hired in the theatric group of Stobinski and then in Ratajewicz's. After one year he came back at home and hired at a rail station.
In 1889 Wl. Reymont was in a theatric group which gave representations in Czgestochowa. Wladyslaw Reymont was hired again at the rail station in 1890 and wrote a lot in his free time.
Reymont debuted with the novella "In the Christmas Eve" in 1892. In 1893 he was fired and left to Warsaw where he published the novella "The Death". He published in Kurier Codzienny the novel "The Deceiver" in 1895 and after one year the continuation of this novel named "Ferments". In 1898 appeared "The Promised Land".
He had a train accident in 1899 and after it he had serious traumas.
Between 1902-1908 he published in Tygodnik Ilustrowany the tetra logy "Chlopi". Between 1909-1918 also appeared: "The Dreamer", "The Vampire" and the historical trilogy "The Year 1794". For one year between 1919-1920 he traveled two times in America where he visited the polish colonies.
This travel inspired him to write in the next years "The Princess", "The come Back" and "The Confession". In 1924 for the epopee "Chlopi" he won the Nobel Prize over great writers like Hardy, Mann, Ibanez, Gorki, Undset, Grazia Deledda and Jirasek. On the Christmas of the year 1925 he passed away in Warsaw and was buried in Saint John Cathedral.
