Career
Born in Ilhéus, Wagner began playing football with local clubs in the Bahia, Goiás and São Paulo state competitions before embarking on an eleven-year career in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He left Jaboticabal Atlético for HSK Posusje in July 2003. The midfielder has averaged more than ten goals per season while playing for Široki Brijeg.
Wagner"s brother, Ricardo Santos Lago, is also a professional football player who became a naturalised Bosnia international.
