Miles, Waldo Garland was born on June 12, 1911 in Wise, Virginia, United States. Son of Wade M. and Mollie S. (White) Miles.


Student of University Richmond, 1930-1933. Bachelor of Arts, Washington and Lee University, 1934, Bachelor of Laws, 1938.


Admitted to Virginia bar, 1937. Associate firm Carter & Williams, Danville, 1938-1941. Partner firm Williams, Miles & Williams, Danville, 1941-1948, Woodward, Miles & Flannaghan and predecessor firms, Bristol, Virginia from 1948.
