He was educated at the DuPont Manual Training School and St. Xavier’s College, afterward spent a year in travel and architectural study abroad.
Upon his return to Louisville Mr. Hillerich joined the office of Mason Maury with whom he practiced jointly until 1912, and after brief periods of association with other architects in the city, maintained an independent office the rest of his life. His best known buildings were the First Lutheran Church (in collaboration with Mason Maury); St. Paul’s Episcopal Church; Kenyon Building, and the Fourth District Police Station.
