Walter Keller, American organist, composer. Fellow American Guild Organists (dean Illinois chapter, 1914-1916).; Mason.


Keller, Walter was born on February 23, 1873 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Son of Review William and Anna B. (Walther) Keller.


Musical education, American Conservatory of Music, Chicago, 1891-1894, Royal Conservatory of Music, Leipzig, Germany, 1894-1896, and under Frederic Grant Gleason. Honorary Museum Doctor, De Paul University, 1916.


Instructor in piano, Northwestern University School of Music, 1898-1904. Organist St. Vincent’s Church, Chicago, 1903-1918. Instructor in organ and theory, Sherwood Music School, since 1906, director, since 1911.

Dean music department, DePaul University, 1912-1920. Played organ concerts from Massachusetts to California, including Jamestown Exposition and Mormon Tabernacle, Salt Lake City. Organist Fifth Church of Christ, Scientist, 1922-1938.
