The young man received a public school education, later studied architecture at Cornell University where he was graduated in 1911.
After a period of training in the firm's office, in 1917 following his father’s death he became a partner in the organization, and continued that association during his remaining years.
During his practice Mr. Meier designed independently or in collaboration with associates a number of important public and business structures in his native state, including the David Stott Building; first two sections of the Penobscot Building, and the Church of the Holy Redeemer in Detroit, the latter built in 1923. Among other works of the firm should be mentioned St. Joseph’s Church at Port Huron, Mich., 1922, School of St. Vincent de Paul at Pontiac, and the Beaumont Memorial Tower, Lansing, Mich.
In 1920 he was elected to the Detroit Chapter, A.I.A.
