He was educated there and at Phillips Academy in Andover, Mass. He received an architectural training at Cornell University and in Europe.
After studied he returning to New York in 1898. Later in that year he obtained a position as draftsman with the firm of McKim, Mead & White, and was associated with Stanford White in designing a number of distinctive residences for the firm's clients.
Following White's tragic death, Mr. Wilder, in practice under the firm name of Wilder & White was identified with the design of several public buildings in New York, a Public Library and schools in Plainfield, N. J., but was better known as a specialist in the field of residential work.
He had been a member of the New York Chapter, A.I.A. after 1921.
Mr. Wilder worked in partnership with Harry Keith White of New York from 1906 until 1930 with an office at #16 East 41st Street.
Mr. Wilder was associated with Stanford White in designing a number of distinctive residences for the firm's clients.
