Instructor in surgery, 1929-1932, assistant, associate professor surgery, department of surgery and post graduate medical, 1932-1946, University of Michigan Medical School. Elcock professor surgery Northwestern University Medical School, Ranson lecturer surgery, 1941. Consultant in surgery Fifth United States Army.

Also surgeon Chicago Wesley Memorial Hospital, Chicago, and chairman department, since 1952.
