Warminster. Was a civil engineer and pupil and assistant of the late Joseph Locke, 1845-1854. Engaged in various railway constructions of the L. and S. W. and the L. and N. W. Railway Companies, and the London and Blackwall Railway extensions and conversion. Was a partner in the West of England Woollen Manufactory of Stanton and Son.
Member of Parliament Stroud, 1874 (unseated on petition). Re-elected, 1880-1885. Contested Mid Gloucester, 1886.
