Career

Admitted a solicitor, 1882. Member of School Board. Trustee’ of Savings Bank and honorary member of Free Library Committee, Ashton, 1884-1894.

Joined General Brine in practical experiments in aerial navigation 1887-1889, and was awarded the Balloon Society’s medal. Holds the medal of the Manchester Pedestrian Club for the walk to Paris, 1905. Editor of the Derbyshire Archaeological Society's Journal, 1901 - 5.

British Numismatic Journal since 1903. Local Secretary for Derbyshire to Society of Antiquaries, and member of Committee of Ancient Earthworks and Fortified Enclosures since its inauguration.
