Educated University of Nebraska.


In live stock commission and loan business, Omaha, Nebraska, 18 months. Later official court reporter, 1st Judicial District of Nebraska, 3½ years. Again in live stock commission and loan business at St. Joseph, Missouri, and Kansas City.

Vice-president and cashier Merchants Bank, St. Joseph, 1908-1912, and upon consolidation, 1912, with First National Bank, was made 1st vice president First National Bank. Vice president Commerce Trust Company of Kansas City, 1915-1917, president, 1917-1921, vice-president National City Bank, New York, 1921-1922, president Commerce Trust Company, Kansas City, November 1922. Chairman of the Board, 1926-1933.

President National Bank of Detroit, 1933-1938, chairman of board since 1938. Former member National Credit Corporation. Ex-chairman for Kansas City, Reconstruction Finance Corporation Ex-president Chamber of Commerce of Kansas City, Trust Company Division of America Bankers Association.

Member Beta Theta Pi. Former member Advisory Council Federal Reserve Board.
