TYRWHITT, Walter Spencer-Stanhope was born on September 6, 1859. Son of Reverend R. Saint John Tyrwhitt and Eliza, daughter of John Spencer-Stanhope of Cannon Hall, Yorkshire.

Studied at Radley College. Christ Church, Oxford. Master of Arts.
After graduating at Oxford, spent three years in the Queensland bush, returning in 1886. Served articles in architect’s office, never practised, but took to painting in watercolours. Exhibited at Royal Academy in 1894, and in four subsequent years.
Has exhibited pictures at Royal Institute of Painters in Water-Colours, and in other exhibitions.
Has held exhibitions at Dor6 Gallery and Baillie Gallery. President and Secretary to Oxford Art Society.
One of original founders in 1891. Painter in WaterColours.
