Case, Walter Summerhayes was born on January 26, 1885 in Savannah, Georgia, United States. Son of James McNaughton and Florence Adele (Weigel) Case.


Bachelor of Arts, Williams College, 1906. Special graduate work, New York University School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance, 1907-1909.


Financial work and bond salesman, 1907-1910. European agent Ladenburg, Thalmann & Company, later manager bond department with power of attorney, 1910-1916. Founder, 1916, president and director Case, Pomeroy & Company, Inc., a private investment company, patterned after the British plan with a specialized research organization.

In later years activities were particularly devoted to mineral and petroleum exploration and development in N. and S. America, Africa and Australia.


Married Mary Soule Hadley, September 25, 1908. Children: Hadley, Donald Sloane, Dorothy, Rosemary.
