With Westinghouse Air Brake Company, since 1903, appointed mechanic engineer, 1907, chief engineer, 1910, assistant manager, 1915, manager of engineering, 1916.
His electrical, mechanic and pneumatic inventions covered by over 400 United States patents, and in use on most of rys. of world and in many large industrial plants. Awarded Longstreth medal, 1911, Elliott Cresson medal, 1912.
