He supplemented his studies at the Ecole des Beaux Arts.
He entered the Boston office of Peabody & Stearns as a junior draftsman, and was training with other firms in the city.
During the many years Mr. Briggs maintained an office in Bridgeport he won recognition in designing a number of notable public buildings throughout the state. Among these were the State Normal School at New Britain; County Court House and High School at Bridgeport; and the Railroad Station at Bridgeport. He was also architect of the Rogers Memorial School at Fairhaven, Mass., and High Schools at Taunton, Mass., Yonkers N Y and various other cities.
Mr. Briggs was a member of the Connecticut Chapter since 1881 and in 1889 was made a Fellow of the Institute.
