Ochola, Washington Odongo was born on January 7, 1967 in Kisumu, Nyanza, Kenya. Son of Francis Ochola Kamusa and Filgona Ngasi Ochola.

Master of Science in Agricultural Systems Engineering and Management, South China Agricultural University, Guangzhou, 1994. Doctor of Philosophy in Sustainable Agriculture, Agricultural University Athens, 2003.
