Wendy studied at the University of Adelaide and received bachelor with honors in 1981. She became Doctor of Philosophy in History after finishing Australian National University in 1987.
Wendy started as the lecturer at Canberra (Australia) College of Advanced Education. In 1988 she was an associate editor and program coordinator of Society for International Development in Rome, associate editor, program director, 1993-1995, editor, program director, since 1995.
She was a consultant Organization of European Cooperation and Development Development Center in Paris 1996-1997. From 1997 Wendy held a position of a guest lecturer at Schumacher College in England, United Nations Staff Training College (1998), World University for Women, Hamburg, (2000). Harcourt produces Development, the quarterly journal of the Society for International Development. The Society for International Development is a global network of people interested in diverse, sustainable, and inclusive development. Harcourt’s interest in these issues, and in the elimination of gender bias in economics and development, is apparent in the two anthologies she edited. Power, Reproduction, and Gender: The Inter gene rational Transfer of Knowledge presents case studies exploring people’s sexual behavior in a variety of nations, including Brazil, Italy, Pakistan, Switzerland, Ghana, Tanzania, and Sri Lanka.
Wendy married Mark Keese December 2, 1978, they divorced in 1985. On December 18, 1989, she married Claudio Sardoni. She has two children, Caterina Sardoni and Emma-Claire Sardoni.
