Wensley Clarkson started his career as a reporter at Wimbledon News, London, England and worked there from 1977 to 1979. Then he worked as a reporter for Sunday Mirror, London since 1979 till 1981. He was also a reporter for Mail on Sunday, London in 1981 and 1982. Since 1982 till 1987 he worked for Sunday Mirror and since then he works as a freelance writer. He is also producer of commercials.

Clarkson has written numerous true-crime books, including biographies of Brink’s-Mat defendant Kenneth Noye, ex-Great Train Robber Charlie Wilson and legendary south London criminal Jimmy Moody. His book on Noye was one of the ten best selling true crime titles of the 1990s. A Ch.5 documentary based on his recent best seller The Curse of Brink’s-Mat was screened earlier this year.
