At the age of twenty he entered the Boston office of Wheelwright & Haven to begin architectural training, later worked as draftsman with other firms in the city. After opening an office in Philadelphia Mr. Ladd won a reputation as designer of fine homes and during his brief career acquired a clientele comprising such noted persons as Mrs. Julius Straus and Joseph Rhodes of Overbrook, Pa., William Tilden, Onteora Park, N. Y., Tyson Romaine, Seabright, N. J., and Colonel Heber Smith, Bryn Mawr.
He was a member of the American Institute of Architects and of the T-Square Club.
