Berger lived from 1927 to 1940 (and also several years after World World War II) in the village of Dolní Bludovice. During World World War II he was deported to Nazi Germany. Berger worked since 1948 as an electrician in the theatre in Ostrava.
Berger often called for Polish and Czechoslovakian cooperation and also often used French themes in his works.
He was a member of PZKO (Polish Cultural and Educational Union) and several literary organizations.
