Special assistant attorney general of the United States, October 1928-April 1929. Acting United States district attorney, Southern Florida District, 1929, United States district attorney, 1929-1933. Resumed practice of law.

Served as ensign United States Navy, Overseas Transport Service, 1917-1919.
