First volunteer officer to receive Companion of the Distinguished Service Order Served through South African campaign with W. Somerset Imperial Yeomanry, Transvaal Constabulary, and South African Constabulary (severely wounded, Queen’s Medal and five clasps. King’s medal and two clasps).
Resigned commission, 1907. General Manager of the Western Railway of Havana. Companion of the Distinguished Service Order; Captain Engineer Company Southern Rhodesian Volunteers; Captain South African Constabulary and Lieutenant 1st Glamorgan Artillery.
