In Royal Foreign Office, Stockholm, 1903-1906. Appointed second secretary in the Foreign Office, 1905. Actg. chief of Consular Bureau, 1906.

Appointed secretary of Legation of Sweden, Washington, September 28, 1906. Counselor of Legation, 1910. Envoy Extraordinary anu Minister Plenipotentiary to the United States, March 22, since 1912.

In charge of Austro-Hungarian affairs during the period of broken diplomatic relations and war.
