He has been one of the representatives for Prettygate ward on Colchester Borough Council since the 2011 local election and served as leader of the Conservative group on the council from 2011 to 2014, when he stepped down to focus on the then forthcoming general election. Quince also stood for Colchester at the 2010 general election, coming second behind Russell. Quince"s background is in law and customer development.
Prior to taking his position as an Member of Parliament he held positions at Concur Technologies, Britvic Soft Drinks and several law firms.

He was elected at the 2015 general election as the Member of Parliament (Member of Parliament) for Colchester, replacing the incumbent Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament Sir Bob Russell. Following the 2015 general election he holds a dual mandate as member of parliament for Colchester and Borough Councillor for Prettygate ward.
