Career
He plays mostly as a lock. After spending four seasons with the Pumas – making 62 appearances - he joined Griquas for the 2014 season. He made his Super Rugby debut for the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein against the Force on 10 May 2014, coming on mid-way through the second half.
In August 2014, it was announced that he would make join the Free State Cheetahs from 2015 onwards.
He is the older brother of Blue Bulls and South Africa centre January Serfontein.
