William Bales gained prominence as a writer for the National Broadcasting Company’s (NBC) “Nightly News.” Before joining the NBC staff in 1950, Mr. Bales served in the U.S. Army as a special agent for the Counter Intelligence Corps during World War II. Mr.Bales then became a reporter for the Long Island Press in New York City. He also produced documentaries.
He died from prostate cancer, June 6, 1996, in Long Island, NY.
