He maintained an architectural office there for a period of four decades, and was known to have designed many public buildings. Among his most important works were County Court Houses built in many locations in the state, in Dutchess, Greene, Livingstone, Putnam, Nassau and Franklin Counties, and in addition the Court House at Poughkeepsie. Mr. Beardsley also designed a number of hospitals for Tubercular patients in Oneida and Nassau Counties, the Welfare Home in Erie County, and the State Prison at Attica.
