Commissioner of Special Court for Treason Trials, 1901. Puisne Judge, Supreme Court, Natal, 1902. Senior Puisne Judge, 1904.
Colonel-Commandant of District No. 1, Natal, Zulu War, December 1878 and January 1879. Raised native levies for defence of border, and a corps of mounted natives (medal).
Commandant of Combined Rifle Associations, Pietermaritzburg, Boer War, 1899-1900 (medal). Acting Chief Justice and Administrator, 1907. Member of Delimitation Commission under South Africa Act, 1909-1910.
Retired from the service, 1910.
