He acquired his training in architecture at the old School of Mines, Columbia University, and at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris.
In 1919 the firm of Beers & Farley established an office in New York, and during the succeeding years won wide recognition in the field of domestic architecture, acquiring a clientele comprised of many well-known persons. Among the noteworthy residences designed by the firm were: the home of Mrs. Peter Cooper Hewitt at Windsor, N. Y., 1915; two houses for George DeForest Lord, one at Cedarhurst, Long Island, and the other at Syosset, 1924; residence for Ex-Governor Smith of Vermont at St. Albans, 1925; home of F. B. Lord at Syosset, 1927; the John P. Lane residence at Locust Valley, Long Island, 1936-37; and in 1942, the fine home of C. V. Whitney at Wheatley, Long Island. Mr. Beers was also identified with the design of school buildings erected at Manchester, Conn., 1919-22, and the Town Office Building there, built in 1925.
During the first World War, he served in France with the U. S. Army Engineers, later was one of the founders of the American Legion.
