He began his career as a student in the office of the late J. A. Demwolf, and remained to practice in association with him. In later years he entered into a partnership with George F. Gemmill, and under the firm name of Billmeyer & Gemmill planned a number of business and commercial buildings in York. Among these were the York Trust Company (1911); Home of the Loyal Order of Moose (1917); and the First National Bank Building.
