William Boyd, American actor.


Boyd, William was born on June 5, 1895 in near Cambridge, Ohio, United States. Son of Charles W. and Lida Alberta (Wilkins) Boyd.

Motion picture actor since 1919. Played leading role in The Volga Boatman, 1926. Appeared in King of Kings, 1927, Two Arabian Knights, 1928.

Starred in Skyscraper, The Leatherneck, Officer O’Brien, The Painted Desert. In title role of Hopalong Cassidy series since 1934, in series films, starring on nat. television. program since 1949. In Bar 20, 1943, Texas Masquerade, 1944.

Riders of the Deadline, 1944. Formed Hopalong Cassidy Prdns., 1945. Co-producer The Devil’s Playground, 1946, other prdns. include: Fool’s Gold.

Unexpected Guest; Lost Canyon. Border Vigilantes; Stick to Your Guns. Made radio debut, January 1950.

Appears as figure of Hopalong Cassidy in syndicated comic strip and comic books. Participated in Armed Forces Radio Service Show. Made transcriptions for forces during World World War World War II Address: Beverly Hills California.
