W. Cherry received a degree of a Bachelor of Science from the University of North Texas, Denton, 1962. In 1964 he graduated from the University of North Texas, Master of Arts. Also in 1967 W. Cherry received a degree of a Doctor of Philosophy from Washington University. In 1984 he graduated from Rice University, Graduate Studies, Houston.
In the late 1950s, W. Cherry was attending classes at New Orleans' Tulane University while working for AM radio station WWL. He also subbed as host for broadcasts from the famous Blue Room of the Roosevelt Hotel. W. Cherry taught finance, economics and investments at Houston's St. Thomas University and at Galveston College and even did a brief stint as a high school English composition and debate teacher at Dallas' Thomas Jefferson High.
In 1963 W. Cherry was a Comptroller at First National Bank of Clayton, Missouri. He worked as a Vice President at Securities Management & Research, Inc., 1966. In 1970 he was a Vice President at Guaranty Service Corporation. Also in 1975 he worked as an Executive vice president, and director of Columbia Communities, Inc., Houston. In 1970 W. Cherry was a Director at Guaranty Federal Savings & Loan Association. From 1970 to nowadays he is a Principal of Park Avenue Financial. From 1980 to nowadays he is a Principal owner at Bill Cherry Realtor, Dallas.
He is a frequent speaker for business clubs, church groups and business conventions.
