Served in Exhibition of 1851 under late Lord Playfair. Appointed to the Inland Revenue, 1853. And became Controller of Stamps and Registrar of Joint Stock Companies, 1871-1883.
And then Secretary of Inland Revenue to 1896. When retired on pension. Decorated for Inland Revenue and Stamp Reforms. Retired civil servant and country gentleman.
