He was educated in the city and completed a technical education at the Polytechnic Institute.
In 1913 he moved to Asheville, and during the rest of his life carried on a wide architectural practice in the south, known as a specialist in church work. He is credited with having designed more than a hundred and fifty ecclesiastical buildings, notable examples of which were St. Stephen’s Church at Sewickley, Pa. and the First Presbyterian at Mansfield, Ohio.
He was a past president of the Western Pennsylvania American Institute of Architects.
He organized the Society of Architects of Ohio and Pennsylvania.
