In 1924, Findlay was selected to the United States. soccer team which competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics. Findlay did not play with the United States. again until the 1928 Summer Olympics. At that tournament, the United States. lost its first game to Argentina.
Following its elimination from the Olympics, the United States. played one exhibition game, a 3-3 tie with Poland.
Findlay began his career with Scottish club Third Lanark A.C. (before Christ) before moving to the United States. In 1928, he played for Galicia South Carolina (U.S.) Following the Olympics, he signed with the New York Nationals of the American Soccer League.
He also spent the 1930 fall season with the Brooklyn Wanderers.
