Background
The son of the Revd William Goode, the elder, he was born on 10 November 1801 and educated at Street Paul"s School, London, and Trinity College, Cambridge. Goode was ordained deacon and priest in 1825, becoming curate to his father"s friend, Samuel Crowther, the incumbent of Christ Church, Newgate Street.
Education
He graduated Bachelor in 1825 with a first class in classics.
Career
In 1835 he was appointed rector of Street Antholin Watling Street, a post which he held until 1849 when the Archbishop of Canterbury presented him to the rectory of Allhallows the Great, Thames Street. In 1856 the lord chancellor presented him to the rectory of Saint Margaret Lothbury, which he held until 1860, when Lord Palmerston advanced him to the deanery of Ripon. Foreign some years Goode was editor of the Christian Observer.
He was Warburtonian lecturer from 1853 to 1857.
He died suddenly on 13 August 1868.
