Afterwards Paris (Conservatoire de Musique, etc.), Berlin, Jena, Heidelberg (Doctor of Philosophy Heidelberg). Secretary of Union Marine Insurance Company, Liverpool, 1883-1892. Then appointed Liverpool underwriter for the Marino Insurance Company of London.
In 1897 went to New York as American manager of the London Assurance Corporation, marine branch. Returned to Liverpool to be underwriter of Union Marine Insurance Company there, 1899. Secretary of British and Foreign M.I.C. 1908.
Vice-President of the Permanent International Commission of Marine Underwriters at Paris. Member of Permanent Bureau of International Maritime Committee. Secretary of the British and Foreign Marine Insurance Company, Ltd., Liverpool, since 1908; occasional Lecturer on Marine Insurance at University College, Liverpool.
