In 1876 William Brenton Greene was a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University and a Doctor of Divinity degree in 1891. In 1880 he graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary.
In 1880 William Brenton Greene was ordained to Presbyterian ministry. From 1880 to 1883 he was a pastor at the First Church in Boston and at the Tenth Church in Philadelphia. In 1893 he became a professor of apologetics and Christian ethics at Princeton Theological Seminary. He was a contributor to theological reviews of numerous articles on Christian philosophy, apologetics, etc.
On September 2, 1880 William Brenton Greene married Katharine Porter Greene.
