Studied at Uppingham School, 1868- 1873.
Joined Indo - European Government Telegraph Department in Persian Gulf in June 1875, and proceeded to Bushire. Stationed at various places in Persian Gulf until 1890, when services transferred to consular service, and appointed to open new ViceConsulate at Mohammerah, on the Karun river. His Britannic Majesty’s Consul Arabistan, to reside Mohammerah, since 1904; Member Royal Asiatic Society.
