The youth studied engineering at the Mechanics’ Institute, and received an architectural training in the office of J. Foster Warner, one of the leading practitioners in the city.
Beginning his career in 1902 Mr. Madden formed a partnership with Edwin S. Gordon, and later, in 1915 Mr. Kaelber joined the firm under the name of Gordon, Madden & Kaelber.
During his years of practice Mr. Madden was connected with a number of the firm’s important works built in the early 1900's, Corpus Christi Church; the Sibley Building in which the firm maintained an office; Church of Saint Peter and Paul; Central Building; Church of the Blessed Sacrament; General Hospital and Dental Dispensary, and the Knights of Columbus Building, all in Rochester.
He was elected a member of the A. I. A. in 1909.
