He acquired an architectural training in the office of Hornblower & Marshall, and in 1898 started practice in association with Walter C. Peter.
The firm designed several important buildings in the capital city, noted examples of which were the "Evening Star" newspaper building, erected in 1899; the First Church of Christ Scientiist, 1915; Walter Reed Army Hospital, a unit built prior to 1908; Farmers & Merchants National Bank, and the D. A. R. Administration Building. March & Peters were also architects of the Federal Building at Wheeling, W. Va., completed in 1906, and the Charlotte National Bank Building.
