William Moore

Career

Colonel of a regiment in Chester County (Pennsylvania) Militia during French and Indian War. Member Provincial Assembly, 1733-1740. Justice of the peace, 1741-1783.

Presiding judge of Chester County Court during most of period 1750 to 1776.

28 petitions were presented to Assembly in 1757 urging his removal as presiding judge, but he denied jurisdiction of Assembly. Arrested for libel and imprisoned, Philadelphia, 1758.
