Retired, 1905; served in South Africa with Sir Charles Warren’s Expedition to Bechuanaland, 1884-1885. South African War, 1900-1902 (despatches twice, Queen’s medal, 3 clasps, King’s medal, 2 clasps, Companion of the Distinguished Service Order). Companion of the Distinguished Service Order 1902.
