He attended public schools of Philadelphia, and studied architecture under an older brother, T. Rooney Williamson
During the nineties Mr. Williamson moved to Grand Rapids, and for twenty years carried on a general architectural practice in the city. Probably his most important works were the Hermitage Hotel, built about 1890, the Gilbert Building, the Kent Country Club, dating from 1899, and a number of private homes. In 1914 Mr. Williamson closed his office and left for a vacation in California.
