Wilson, William Riley was born on September 5, 1860 in Fair Haven, Preble County, Ohio, United States. Son of David Sturgous and Mary Jane (Orr) Wilson.


Bachelor of Arts, Washington and Jefferson College, 1886. Graduate Allegheny (now Pittsburgh-Xenia) Theological Seminary, 1889. Doctor of Divinity, Westminster and Grove City colls., 1906.
